摘要：从信息社会要求图书馆网络化、资源共享的角度论证了高校中小型图书馆走出困境、推进图书馆自动化建设的必要性和可行性。指出图书馆自动化不是一个单纯的技术问题，而是一个发展战略问题。高校中小型图书馆要结合馆情做好规划，认真实施。要注意ＭＡＲＣ格式的正确使用，建好特色化的馆藏书目数据库；边建设边见效益，使自动化建设呈良性循环。
The article expounds that the informatic societv demands networkization and re-source-sharing of libraries, and proves that the necessity and feasibility of institutions libraries’getting out of difficult position and promoting automation constrtiction. And it points out thatthe library automation is not only a technical problem, but also a strategy-developing problem.All the small and medium size libraries in institutions of higher learning would better makegood prograrns based on their own situations and put themselves into execution. A correct useof “MARC”format and setting up a special bibliographic data base must be paid attiontion tomake the library automation a benign circulation.[
