To investigate the mental health status and its demographic factors amongpre-service teachers during the epidemic of COVID-19.An internet-based questionnaire survey was conducted among 259 pre-service teachers in a university in Beijing using self-designed questionnaire based on symptom checklist-90.During the epidemic period, the mean scores of the SCL-90 factors among pre-service teachers, including somatization, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, hostility, paranoia and positive items, were significantly lower than the National Youth norm of 18-29 years old group. The mean scores of anxiety and hostility of freshmen were significantly lower than those of senior students. The positive number of national minority students was significantly higher than that of Han students. As for somatization, students had ever experienced crisis had some significant difference with those who hadn’t experienced. The mean scores of interpersonal sensitivity, depression and terror among students without close friends were significantly higher than those with close friends.Colleges and universities and related departments are urged to provide targeted health education and psychological support for a long time to improve the mental health of pre-service teachers during the epidemic of COVID-19.
