摘要：在《亚当·斯密在北京:21世纪的谱系》一书中,乔万尼·阿里吉立足于斯密学说,批判了将当代中国经济奇迹的根源解读为其发展遵循了新自由主义理论的看法,而试图从中国独特的市场经济发展的传统中寻找当代中国崛起的答案。不过,由于阿里吉并非中国学研究者,也没能吸收有关宋元明清经济史与海外贸易史研究的最新成果,所以在建构中国市场经济长时段发展历程时,他将更多注意力集中于明、清时期中国国内市场的开拓,忽视了这一时期海外贸易在中国国民经济中的比重,及其对经济发展所发挥的重大作用。因此,阿里吉将明、清时期的中国看做是在斯密动力下沿着"自然"道路发展的看法,显然存在着较大的局限性和理论上的短板。
In Adam Smith in t^eijing ~ Lineages of the Twenty-First Century, Giovanni Arrighi, in light of Adam Smith＇s theory, tries to offer an interpretation of China＇s great success on economic construction during the past decades. He claims that China＇s reform has not followed neo-liberal prescriptions. He insists that the extraordinary rise of China need to be explained in the process of market economy in traditional China, which was described as the non-capitalist market economy or ＂natural＂ progress of opu- lence by Smith. But Giovanni Arrighi also made mistakes when he researches the pro- gress of China＇s market economy in the long run. In this work, he shows how the policy actions privileging domestic over foreign trade in Ming and Qing dynasty, and that lead to the remarkable peace, prosperity, and demographic growth which made eighteenth- century China the exemplar of Smith＇s ＂natural＂ path to opulence. But he doesn＇t no- ticed the latest research results, how the fiscal, monetary and trade policies were changed and encouraged by the massive silver influx from overseas trade, that＇s why there is a great limitation in his conclusion and the theoretical gap.
