摘要：《晚霞消失的时候》在反思历史与重建个人精神维度上体现了对正统的偏离。小说具有可贵的忏悔意识,表达了一个红卫兵对"文革"的真诚反思。小说打破了伤痕小说的成规,伤痕的主角,落在了有严重历史问题的南珊和楚轩吾两个人身上。小说通过叙述两种人生观的冲突,试图建立一种新的个人精神维度。这两种人生观,一种是李淮平所代表的一代红卫兵的人生观,一种是南珊的哲学。南珊的哲学,实质上是一种启蒙主义和新传统主义相混杂的普世价值观。小说具有很强的前瞻性和预言性,充满对战争、历史、宗教信仰等宏大问题的追问,它不是写给70年代末的,是写给今天、写给未来的。它所辩论的问题,不在80年代的框架内,自然和主流意识形态发生了尖锐的冲突。
When the Evening Glow Vanishes embodies a deviation from orthodoxy in terms of its reflections on history and its reconstruction of the personal spirit. With a valuable consciousness of confession,the novel expresses a red guard＇s sincere reflections on the＂Cultural Revolution＂and breaks the conventions of novels themed on traumatic subjects with the protagonists being Nan Shan and Chu Xuanwu,two persons burdened with serious historical problems. Moreover,the novel has also tried to establish a new personal spirit dimension by narrating the conflicts between two views of life of which one is represented by Li Huaiping,a member of red guards; while the other is Nan Shan＇s philosophy—virtually a universal value integrating enlightenment and neo-traditionalism. Distinguished by a strong foresight and prophecy as well as its inquiries into such great issues as war,history,religion,etc,the novel is meant for this era and the future rather than for the 1970 s,for the issues debated in the book have gone beyond the framework of the 1980 s with poignant conflicts arising between nature and mainstream ideology.
