摘要：城市管理最根本的任务就是在城市中创造良好的物质环境和文化环境 ,使居于其中的人们愉快地工作和生活 ,从而实现城市社会经济可持续发展的目标 ,并带动周围区域社会经济的健康发展。美国在城市政府行政管理和城市公共事物管理方面采用的一些具体有效的管理理念和经验是值得北京借鉴和学习的 ,如处处时时进行科学管理 ,运用成功的企业管理理念和方法 ,规则清晰、责任明确、注重公众监督 ,重视管理人员培训和工作绩效考核 ,注意应用现代信息管理技术等。
City management is a type of management sciences, which includes administration of governmental sectors and management of public affairs in the city. The most essential task of city management is to create and keep good physical and cultural environment in a city. The purpose of city management is for the people who live in the city to work, live, and recreate happily, to implement the objectives of the cities' social, economical, and environmental development, as well as to bring along the development of the region around the city. Beijing should learn something from the concepts and experiences of city management in the USA. They have strong understanding of scientific management, apply successful and effective theories and methods of business management in city management, have clear rules and obligations, stress public supervision, pay much attention to personnel training and performance evaluation, and use modern management technologies, etc.
