Xishan is the general name of the western mountains of Beijing. It is the product of the mutual communication and integration between the natural environment and the cultural environment, and contains profound historical and cultural connotations.Xishan was closely related to the development of Beijing. The rising status of Beijing city also promoted the diversity of xishan culture. Xishan also provided space for the expansion of functions of Beijing.By combing the historical documents and information of archaeological relics, and using the research methods of historical geography, various cultural elements were visualized and analyzed to explore the evolution and characteristics of the cultural landscape in the western mountains. The spatial transfer of the center of gravity of the Xishan cultural landscape showed the dynamic process of the concentration, diffusion and extension of cultural landscape elements in different historical periods, which can also be said to be the cultural differences within the Xishan region. In terms of natural conditions, the formation of Xishan cultural landscape was closely related to the terrain, slope and water source. Different landscape elements were distributed on the four steps, which are strewn at random and adjacent to each other. In terms of cultural precipitation, religions, royal families, gardens, tombs, villages, military affairs and energy resources were extremely rich and integrated with each other, finally forming a unique cultural geographical unit.
