摘要：艾略特认为我们的现代文明是多样和复杂的,而且描写这种多样和复杂的现代文明的诗歌艺术形式也应该是多样和复杂的,因此诗人'必须是费解的'。关于汉译艾略特《荒原》一诗的'难处',赵萝蕤先生在其译后记中表达了三个方面的意思:第一是'这首诗本身的晦涩';第二是译文的体裁和文体问题;第三是这首诗的译文'需要注释'。本文在研读艾略特关于'感受力涣散''历史意识''个性消灭'等核心诗学理论的基础上,结合《荒原》中译本的比较释读,窥见赵萝蕤先生文学翻译'直译法'在互文性统一方面的独到之处。
T.S.Eliot believes that our modern civilization is various and complex,and the way to present this various and complex civilization should also be various and complex.The poet,therefore,'must be difficult.'In terms of the difficulties in translating The Waste Land into Chinese,Professor Zhao Luorui says in her afterword of the first English-Chinese translation of the poem that there are three difficulties in the translation:the ulteriority of the poem,the genre and style of the translation,and the necessity of notes for the translated poem.With an understanding of Eliot’s core poetic ideas about'dissociation of sensibility,''historical sense'and'depersonalization,'and with a comparative interpretation of Chinese translations of the poem,the excellence of Zhao’s literal translation has been explored and glimpsed into in terms of the intertextual unity between form and content.
