摘要:In this paper, we discuss the routing technology, and analyze the switching technology in optical communication network. WDM optical systems provide orders of magnitude increases in the bandwidth that can be delivered over an existing fiber plant, and enable a significant time-to-market improvement in service delivery, compared to the alternative of laying additional fiber to provide more bandwidth. WDM systems are deployed widely in long haul service provider networks, and are increasingly being deployed in metro service provider networks and for enterprise data center connectivity applications. We describe and analyze the switching architecture of the node. Wavelength conversion in key network nodes is emerging as a fundamental functionality that can allow transparent interoperability, contention resolution, wavelength routing, and, in general, better utilization of the network resources under dynamic traffic patterns. To implement wavelength converters in the optical cross-connect (OXC) is a key step towards the all-optical networks. ? 2010 IEEE.
